jul 23: Featured Poet Patch Avery & The Salmon Slam Team Invitational
Patch Avery has been known to practice poetry while vacuuming. Writing is longtime friend that he met when he was 10 during a storm while he was trapped in a barn. Hes come a long way from scribbling on trash with a carpenter pencil, and hiding those scraps in the cuffs of his pants. Patch has never been more afraid in his life until the birth of his sons and the day he proclaimed himself a writer, he isn’t fancy and doesn’t know a lot of big words but the first time he graced that stage he learned what it meant to be heard. His work has been described as a sucker punch. Between potty training and dishes he ventures out to the slam and classes with bent. Patch will always be grateful to Tara Hardys living room where he discovered his voice. He believes the act of writing is a death defying act.
