The Annual Democracy Slam - NO JUDGES in this slam. Instead, all attendees will be given ballots to vote for their favorite poet. Whoever gets the most wins!

Jodie Knowles is a performance artist that is passionate about personal truth, strong female voices, and sharing the arts to under privileged (forgotten) communities. She believes the arts have the capacity to move a society forward and help keep children from being statistics. She is proof of its power. She is an alumni of Freehold Theater were she studied the craft of acting for 5years.She has volunteered  at the womens prison in Purdy helping facilitate poetry and acting workshops with the women for 3years.

Began writing in 2006 and quickly became a regular at the Seattle Poetry Slam performing on the open mic and soon became a regular slammer. In her first year writing poetry she won a spot on the 2007 Seattle Grand Slam stage alongside nationally awarded poets…In the same year she also became one of the four rotating hosts for the Seattle Poetry Slam.
